Welcome to the homepage of the Marquess Maltese kennel!

My name is Szilvia Grof, I live in Pomaz, Hungary, with my husband Gabor, and our two daughters Viki and Vivien.
On this page I would like to tell you about our dogs, and about how it all started…

Many years ago I saw a maltese at a show, and immediately I fell in love with this wonderful breed.
Soon I got a maltese baby (Melany) from my husband. This dog became a champion very quickly.

The malteses and the world of showing soon captured our hearts, and we went on and on and on…

The first litters were registered under the name "Happy Pearl", later we have changed this kennel name to "Marquess Maltese" which is co-owned with my husband.

In 2001 we contacted Helga and Hartwig Drossard, the owners of the Scalnitas kennel in Germany, and soon we became good friends.
It was very important for us, that their dogs are of good type, and their bloodlines are based on american lines, such as Marcris, Scylla's, Sand Island, Keoli's…etc.

In 2002, after waiting for a very long time, we brought Jerry of Scalnitas into our home and life. I can't even express how happy we are to have this dog, and what big successes we reached with him on the shows. Jerry is MultiChampion, International Champion, Top Maltese in 2003 and 2004 in Hungary, and the Top Toy Dog of 2003.

In 2003, we brought an other dog from the Scalnitas kennel: she is EujCH Undercover Girl of Scalnitas "Sweety", who became European Junior Champion on the European Dog Show in Barcelona, in 2004, at the age of 10 months. Many thanks to Helga and Hartwig for these two beautiful dogs!

During showing our dogs all over Europe, we met the beautiful dogs of Luciana and Valentina Giallombardo from Italy. Their kennel "Sinphony of Venice" is based on fantastic bloodlines such as Marcris, Rhapsody's, Richelieu's, Divine, Riverwalk…etc. They are the owners of the exceptional, world-famous, legendary maltese: Rhapsody's Indecent Mystery "Puzzle".

Thanks to Luciana and Valentina we got two new wonderful "pearls": Sinphony of Venice Clark (son of Puzzle), and Sinphony of Venice Sheyla. They are still very young, but both of them are successful showdogs already. Clark became European Junior Champion on the European Dogshow in Tull, Austria.

In 2005, our malteses were the top dogs in Hungary, we won every category in our Club: best junior female and male, best adult female and male. This contest is calculated in a point-system, based on the show results of each dog during the year.

We took Sheyla and Clark to many-many shows all over Europe, and they won qualification to the Cruft's show several times, so we decided to take part on that prestigious show in 2006. We really had great results there, both dogs were entered in the most "difficult" open class, and they won Reserve and 2nd prizes. With these results we started the year wonderfully, and we couldn't wait to enter the showrings with our new hope, Michelle.

Maldonnas Justify My Love 'Michelle' arrived to our home from Finland, from the world-famous Maldonnas kennel. We are very happy and proud that Tarja and Mika Kulmala trusted us and let us have this wonderful daughter of AmCh,ThCh.SCh.FinCh.ICh. Rhapsody's Billy The Kid and the World and European Champion Maldonnas Love It Like It. Michelle is very successful on the shows all over Europe, by the age of 13 months she is multiple Junior Best In Show and Best Of Group winner, and on the European Dogshow held in Helsinki, she won the European Junior Champion title, making us the proud owners of 3 European Champion malteses.

In 2006, our homebred dogs were also very successful on the shows in several countries. The Spy Who Loved Me of Marquess 'Spike' (from the litter of Sweety and Clark), lives in the Scalnitas kennel in Germany won the German Junior Champion and Clubwinner, Luxembourg Junior Champion and Luxembourg Champion titles this year.

A few years ago we met a wonderful male who was winning Best In Show titles all over the world: Funny Ladies Segarl. He was bred in Japan and is owned by Nanta Tansacha and Laurent Heinesche, our good friend. Sweety was mated with Segarl, and 3 beautiful babies were born: The Last Samurai of Marquess "Tomy", Japanese Cherry Blossom of Marquess "Kimi", Japanese Lotus Flower of Marquess "Shuni". All three dogs are of great type, have long, white, silky hair, excellent movement, and lovely head. Tomy won Luxembourg Junior Champion, Hungarian Junior Champion, Jugend Bundessieger and Junior Best In Show titles already.

In the february of 2007, Michelle won the "Best Maltese of Hungary 2006" title (based on her show successes in 2006). We are very proud of this little girl, she is our 4th dog who wins this special, yearly given title in a row.

Our story is to be continued…
